Dr. Howard Amiel

Dr. Amiel is a cataract, cornea, and refractive surgeon based out of our Arvada location. Howard Amiel earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Iowa and a Master of Science from The Chicago Medical School, in North Chicago. He then completed a Doctor of Medicine at the University of Illinois College of Medicine. After an internship here in Denver, he completed a residency at Brown University/Rhode Island Hospital, eventually becoming a faculty member mentoring students and Ophthalmology residents in the emergency room, operating room, and clinics. Dr. Amiel then went on to complete two fellowships, one in Cornea, External Disease and Refractive surgery at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital in Melbourne, Australia, and another fellowship in Refractive and Cataract surgery with Dr. Paul Koch of Warwick, Rhode Island.

Dr. Amiel specializes in cataract surgery, corneal transplants, LASIK, PRK and advanced dry eye. His interests include advanced IOL technology and laser assisted cataract surgery. He is well respected in the Denver Metro area having improved the vision of thousands. He has written numerous articles on corneal, cataract and refractive surgery in national ophthalmic publications. Dr. Amiel has refereed and reviewed peer submissions for ophthalmic publications and lectures locally, nationally, and internationally, and has volunteered in multiple international medical relief campaigns.

Dr. Amiel enjoys spending time with his family and outdoor opportunities like running the trails, snowboarding and mountain biking.
